Pastor BoylePastor Geoffrey Boyle was ordained on August 22, 2010 here at Grace and was immediately installed as pastor of both Grace and Trinity Lutheran congregations in Wichita (within two miles of each other). He, his wife Nicole, and their four children are a wonderful addition to our congregation.

Although he and his wife Nicole didn't know each other at the time, both attended the same preschool class at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, in Birmingham, MI. He and Nikki really met in high school and together attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI (which explains their fierce loyalty to the Wolverines!). Pastor Boyle graduated with a double major, including History and Ancient Civilizations and Biblical Studies. He studied Hebrew and Greek, preparing for seminary studies, and was president of the University Lutheran Chapel on campus. His desire to attend the seminary and consideration of the pastoral office are thanks to Nikki's mother and the youth director at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, who both kindly encouraged the ministry.

Pastor and Nikki were married on July 10, 2004. After visiting both Missouri Synod seminaries they decided to attend Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, IN. They moved to Fort Wayne in 2005. While Pastor studied toward ordination, Nikki took classes in the Deaconess program, which she completed in 2008. As field workers at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne, they helped with the Spanish language service and taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to Latino Americans. Their second year they were selected to study in Cambridge, England at Westfield House and Cambridge University. Their third year, Vicarage, was spent at St. John Lutheran Church, Wheaton, IL where Nikki also served her deaconess internship. While in Wheaton their oldest daughter was born. Back in Ft. Wayne for the final seminary year, their second daughter was born, and Nikki stayed home to mother the two girls. During that fourth year, Pastor spent 10 days on the island nation of Madagascar to encourage the Malagasy Lutheran Church. Pastor has pictures and would love to share with anyone interested!

After graduating from the seminary Pastor was accepted to study for his PhD at the University of Toronto under Dr. Christopher Seitz. His focus is on Old Testament studies and the Prophets in particular. During their time in Toronto, Pastor and Nikki came back to Michigan and delivered their third child.

Pastor Boyle loves riding his bike and often uses it to commute between the two congregations (except when carrying his robes back and forth!). He likes running and reading; and has become well-acquainted with Eighth Day Books on east Douglas, Wichita's premier ecclesiastical book store. He's a tea and coffee drinker (dark and strong!) and possesses an easy, winsome manner.

Pastor Boyle is well-traveled in foreign countries, enjoys fluency in Spanish, and has experience leading many short-term mission projects. He has come to appreciate the Una Sancta, the "One Holy," Christian Church that transcends limits of time, place, and language. His scholarship, vocational conviction, and dedication to marriage and family make him a unique and gifted Pastor. He and his family are a great blessing to our congregations.
