Reformation Festival on October 30th 2011, at 4PM, Grace Lutheran Church in Wichita. Circuits 10 & 11 will jointly celebrate the Reformation. Divine Service will be at 4:00pm and a catered banquet will follow at 5:30pm. Associate Pastor of Emmaus Lutheran Church, South Bend, IN and PhD candidate from the University of Notre Dame. During the meal Pastor Grobien will address a Lutheran approach to ethics in home, church, and society. Banquet tickets are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children and will be available soon. Pastor Boyle will be starting a “New Member’s Class. It will meet on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30pm, beginning this Wednesday, September 21. Classes meet through November 23. The New Member’s Class will be meeting at Trinity Lutheran Church 611 S Erie. Bring your favorite ice cream toppings and come for a get together to thank EVERYONE for their help with the fireworks tent. We have been invited to Zion Lutheran Church, 225 S. Poplar, Newton on Sunday, August 21 at 1:30 p.m. Ice Cream will be provided. All members of Grace, Peace and Zion are invited to attend. The Young Swedish Singers in Concert Make sure you have reserved June 15, 2011 when The Young Swedish Singers will present a concert at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH (600 N. Greenwich Road). This outstanding youth choir consisting of Swedish Lutheran Youth from southern Sweden, has raised not only their airfare but the cost of their charter bus in order that freewill offerings and income from CD’s can benefit Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat, a ministry providing counseling retreats for Protestant clergy (and spouses) who are experiencing personal and congregational conflicts. We are looking for housing for the Captive Free team members for the week of VBS. They will arrive on Saturday July 16th and leave Friday after VBS or early Saturday morning. Here is a brief description of what is involved in housing team members: 1) Housing for the nights they are in town; 2) Breakfast and dinner and 3) Possibly transportation to and from Grace. We will need housing for 3 females (One has severe allergies to cats, dogs, cinnamon, and mushrooms) and 2 males. Host families will be invited to a dinner at church on Saturday July 16th. If you will be able to help house 1 or more team members please let the church office know or contact Linda Freed (Freedlm@cox.net – 945-7657 – 253-2872) We are also looking for an individual to coordinate the lunches for team members (and possibly youth helpers) each day after VBS. This would involve arranging for individuals or groups to provide 5 lunches. Just want to remind everybody that this, SATURDAY, March 5th, we will be having Grace Game Night! The festivities begin in Mueller Hall at 6:30 p.m supper will be provided.
