“As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands” Psalm 119:144
The pressure was on to say the least and God was with us all the way. The Ordination and Installation of Pastor Boyle was my first Ordination and one that will not be forgotten. If you attended you are filled up with the Holy Spirit and the afterglow is hanging on. Do not throw away the order of service program. There is so much in there to read and digest. Look on the margins and read those messages. Thanks to all the committees that worked so hard to make this day a memorable and pleasing day to our Lord and Savior. I wish to personally thank everyone that participated in the planning and then the carrying out of each persons duties. It truly was a team effort, and it was so good to see everyone plugged into the same cause. Thank you to those who didn’t serve on any particular committee but worded so hard to beautify our church yard and the inside facility. We want to thank Janet Crosby and all the ladies from St. Andrews who so graciously served and cleaned up our kitchen for the ordination dinner. Thank you Janet, Lori Casey, Terry Olin, Linda Sloan, Melissa Duncan and LaVeta Dougherty. We have a beautiful House of Worship, and now we have a Shepherd to lead us in worship and study. We are truly blessed. We give all the glory to our Lord and Savior. LWML did not meet in the month of August, nevertheless we were busy. The coming month of September will be a busy month. The tub is out for soap and we thank you for supporting that project. The Health Kits will be assembled and packed at our September meeting (September 20). The date for pick up at St. Andrews is Tuesday, October 5. September 11 at 9:00 a.m. there will be a Wichita Zone LWML Fall Rally Board Meeting here at Grace. Again, we will need all the women to participate and help with this meeting. This is in preparation for the October Fall Rally on October 23rd. Grace will be hosting the Rally. Be prepared to serve in whatever capacity needed. Please plan to attend the planning meeting. September 20 will be our LWML meeting at 7:00 p.m. This will be an important meeting. Please put it on your calendar in BIG RED LETTERS. The Blessing of the Quilts will be held during the 8:00 a.m. Worship Service on September 26. We are so thankful for the new cabinet in the Narthex. It is beautiful and enhances our Narthex. Thank you for building it. We are also thankful for all the new signs above the doors and those that direct us to places within the church. Thank you. We thank Susan for all the extra time and energy spent this month. Now for a bit of Trivia: Have you noticed the Cross that hangs above the ?serve through? window in the Fellowship Hall/gym? It has been there for three years or more. Who made it? Where did the wood come from that forms it? Do you know?? Answers next month. And now we are partner sisters and brothers in the faith with Trinity. Let us remember them in our prayers and strive to work together. We are few however, with the help of our Lord, we are mighty!

Psalm 33:8 – The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life, I will advise you and watch over you.
Writing June 16 for the newsletter for July excites me because I am holding to that piece of scripture knowing He is watching over us and guiding us during this busy time and exciting time preparing for our new pastor.
Grace Guild will have their July meeting the 19th at 7 p.m. We will be celebrating Christmas in July. It seems that every December we are forced to cancel out December Christmas meeting so why not celebrate in July?? There will be a special presentation by Bee Cline. However, there will be much business to discuss.
The first on the agenda will be the clothing give away and Bee will share all the info for that day.
The Ordination and Installation will be the highlight of August for all of us at Grace, and it will take many hands and love to complete the tasks will be asked to take on. We have been asked to prepare the salad and vegetable and breads for the meal. There will be more details that evening.
We are hosting the Fall Rally so ladies put on your thinking caps for table decorations, name tags, and meal.
The month of May five of us and one guest were at the Bead Shop and had a good time assembling a bracelet and other jewelry. It was a good time and Marge Haefner and co-worker were most helpful. Goldene gave a written report of her trip to the convention and a convention report. Thank you!
We served a sack lunch to the family of Wilmer Grundemen after the funeral. They requested a sack lunch that they could just pickup and take with them to the interment service a distance away. Thanks to Lorraine and Glen for helping.
Prayer needs are plenty. We continue to pray for our sister in Christ Peggy Koch, praying for her comfort and peace of mind and being surrounded by her loved ones. All of our shut-ins and their caregivers. Our neighbors across the street that they are empowered by the Holy Spirit and come to worship with us. We pray for the VBS children, staff, and Captive Free, and all those that have volunteered their time. We pray for Bekah and Jessica that they had a safe journey home and that their mission was met with open hearts. We pray for a safe journey here for Pastor Boyle and his family. We pray for us as a congregation joining together with Trinity in preparing for the special day, Aug. 22nd.
So, you see there is never a minute in our loves that we are not serving the Lord with Gladness.
In Christ, Audrey Rolf

Isaiah 40:1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.
The seeds of comfort may take root in the soil of adversity. When your life seems to be falling apart, ask God to comfort you. You may not escape adversity, but you may find God’s comfort as you face it. Sometimes, however, the only comfort we have is in the knowledge that someday we will be with God. Appreciate the comfort and encouragement found in his Word, his presence, and his people. Taken from commentary in my Bible. Jean and Audrey attended Holy Cross Women’s Retreat and the theme was on comfort. A very comforting event. And we thank the Holy Cross LWML for extending the invitation. February is not a meeting month for the LWML, however, due to the weather our Jan. Meeting was moved to the first Monday in February. A devotion was read by Lorraine Koch. Reports by the standing committees were given. Shirley Matz reported that the palms have been ordered for Palm Sunday and we will make crosses March 24, 1:00 PM. Anyone interested in helping please join us. Margie Heath continues to send cards, and has trimmed many stamps, and has found a place to send them. So continue to save your stamps and put them in the big red boxes in both the narthex. We have voted to continue assembling Health Kits for World Relief, as they have depleted their supply on the Haiti crisis. Soon there will be a list of the needs posted. We reduced the number of Quarterlies to be ordered. We donated $100.00 for relief in Haiti through Thrivent. We will continue making quilts and will have the Blessing of the Quilts again in August. Our booklet with names and numbers of members and upcoming events is completed and hopefully everyone has theirs by this publication. We decided to offer a woman’s Bible Study and we are doing a six week study on Lent. Hopefully we will have a full house. It has been decided to meet on Wed. at 1:00 PM for the next six weeks. Please consider joining us. March Altar Care is Goldene Peck. Audrey attended the Spring Rally Leaders meeting in Ark City, Saturday Feb. 6. The Spring Rally will be March 13, 2010, Redeemer, Ark City, and we must get our registration in by Mar. 8. So please if you intend to go contact Audrey and we will make arrangements to car pool. Goldene Peck will be our delegate to the 33rd Biennial Convention of the Kansas District LWML that will be held April 16-18 at the Geary County Convention Center and the Courtyard by Mariott in Junction. The theme is from Psalm 144:2 “The Lord is My Strength and My Shield.” Please pray for safe travel and an uplifting experience. Our March meeting is scheduled for March 15, 7:00 PM. Shirley Matz has the opening and closing. We continue to pray for a pastor for our congregation and Trinity, and in the meantime we must keep charging on. God Bless Grace. In God’s love, Audrey Rolf +
Women of all ages are invited to attend “Preparing My Heart for Easter” a 7-week course of study beginning Wednesday, February 10. This study will take us through Lent to Easter. We will be meeting at 1:00 p.m. in Mueller Hall. Come and join us…bring a friend or two.

The last Wednesday of the month the Grace quilters swing into action. They piece together squares of scrap and recycled material, back them and then tie them with yarn. The quilts will be sent to Lutheran World Relief who will distribute them to those who need them all over the world. LWR quilts were recently sent to those affected by the Haiti earthquake.

In addition to the quilts the LWML also collects Soap and items for health kits which are also distributed through LWR.
Anyone is invited to come and help!

Keep Up The Good Work!
Luke 2:11 – “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
December is not a meeting month for Grace LWML, however we were visible.
We thank the men who so faithfully set up the Christmas tree in the sanctuary so we can put the Chrismons on it. It is getting harder and harder to climb that ladder. Remember, the tree needs to be put away after Epiphany. Every year we think “same old Chrismons” and then, when we stand back to look at the tree, we love it. Some churches put angels or stars on the top, but our crown says it all.
We are also grateful for all the men and women who helped make the Cookie Festival a success. All the goodies came to us fresh and beautiful, and the decorated sugar cookies were a sell out hit. A big “thank you” to Jean and Roxann for the cut outs and all who helped Jean decorate. They are a team and they understand one another, True Artists. One should come and watch next year, better yet, HELP. The newspaper and radios stations were good advertisement for us, and of course, our sign was up for three weeks.
Jean & Shirley continue to do the altar and flowers again for the month of January. Thank you for your service.
The Social Ministry has been very busy and all those hours and hands were very much needed. It is most rewarding to see everything come together. Thank you to Bee and all her “bees.”
December 14 found us celebrating Christmas at the Rolf’s. Goldene recited the Christmas story from the book of St. Luke. What a gift! Thank you.
We continue to pray for the Lord to sent Grace a shepherd.
The Quilters will meet January 27 and we will get a fresh start. (A little bit of information: It costs $5.00 per quilt to ship overseas.)
Our January meeting has been moved to January 25. This will be an important meeting as we will be planning our yearly program. Remember it has been suggested we have a Bible Study on the months we don’t meet for business. Anyone interested in leading, please contact Audrey or Marge Haefner.
Psalm 90:1 “Lord thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.”
A Blessed New Year!
In Christ, Audrey Rolf
God Bless and keep you!

Romans 6:23b - The greatest gift of all, “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The month of November is a meeting month for LWML, however, the weather kept us from meeting. When it gets cold and rainy, no one in our group needs or wants to be out and driving in it. So, much business was left undone. That does not mean we are not doing. We thank Marge Haefner and Shirley Matz for doing Nov. Communion service. We continue to pray for a Pastor, one who is filled with the Holy Spirit and really cares for his flock. We know we will be asked to do many things, and we are willing and ready.
You will find many of us helping the Social Ministry with packing food boxes, wrapping gifts, making scarves, stuffing tube socks for the homeless. This the time of year Bee and her “bees” need lots of assistance. Remember the cookie sale funds will be Thrivent matched and the matched monies will go to the funding of the food baskets and gifts.
We are busy baking cookies for the sale, and we thank each and everyone who has signed up to bake. The LWML could not do it without everyone’s help. This is our 23rd year!! Ladies, do you think we will make it to 25??? We also have men helping with this project, whether it be baking, setting up tables, cleaning, frosting the cookies, and supporting us financially and encouraging us.
- Cookie Sale Dec. 5 – 9 am until they are gone, and we are usually winding down by 11:30.
- Wed. Dec. 2 we will be tidying the Mueller Hall.
- Thur. Dec. 3 we will help decorate the cut outs. 6:pm and thereafter, come when you can.
- Friday Dec.4, someone will be at the church to accept cookies till 6:pm
- Sat. Dec. 5 8:AM we will be putting the cookies out, making apple cider and coffee and whatever last minute things need to be done.
We have advertised in newspapers, on radio and TV Public Announcements. Ladies have put posters around the city. So, come early, the cookies go fast.
Jean has reported the new Communion cloths have arrived. Thank you Jean.
It has been suggested the months we do not meet we have a Bible Study. Anyone interested in leading or attending see Audrey or Marge Haefner.
There will be a Christmas Party for LWML members Monday Dec. 14 – 6:30 PM, please let Audrey know if you plan to attend.
The Quilters will resume quilting Jan.27, 2010.
January meeting is scheduled Jan. 25, 2010.
May the love of Christ be in your hearts as we remember our Savior’s coming into the world and what He accomplished for us.
In Christ, Audrey Rolf
God Bless and keep you!
